  • Distance: 42 km – Elevation gains: 760m
  • Category: from Masters 1 upwards (born in 1987 or earlier)
  • Start and finish at the Base Nature in Fréjus

Several races share the same dynamic route that requires riders to maintain a constant effort. The downhill segments are often fast and sometimes steep, demanding optimum concentration which does not always give riders the chance to recover the energy they have already spent.

In short, you need to control your effort and avoid excessive changes in pace to succeed in this race.

  • Category: from Juniors upwards (born in 2000 or earlier)

Whether you're a novice or experienced triathlete, you'll surely be looking to push yourself in this race, now in its 6th year.

To begin, you’ll dash into the water from the beach at the Nature Base to complete a 1,500 m swim, consisting of two 750-metre laps. You then enter the transition area on the beach before attacking 24 km of mountain biking. The bike section is a fairly fast route through the Petites Maures. Take the time to look up from the handlebars when you reach the summit where the panoramic view is awesome! The running section will be two relatively flat 5-km loops, resembling a cross-country course with many changes of pace.

It's a race that all outdoor sport lovers should try.

With these particular characteristics, the Roc Marathon may look like a long-distance cross-country race accessible to all. However, the rough terrain of the Massif des Maures is more typical of a race of attrition. With alternating fast and abrupt tiring sections, the route requires perfect effort management to get through the many hard knocks as riders dip into and out of small valleys. It's good to plan to reach the "Col de Valdingarde” still feeling fresh enough to tackle the second half of the race at a good pace. It's not a race for everybody! Careful preparation is essential if you want to finish the Roc Marathon!

Saturday 7th october

  • Discipline: gravel
  • Distance: 60 km – Elevation gains: 880m
  • Category: from Juniors upwards (born in 2000 or earlier)
  • Start and finish at the Base Nature in Fréjus

Vintage sport or new concept, the Gravel phenomena has crossed the Atlantic with all the star-spangled razzmatazz that you would expect with American concepts.

Remember how mountain biking arrived on the old continent and the role that Stéphane Hauvette and his Roc d’Azur played at a time when the discipline was developing in Europe. Look at the picture of the start of the first Roc d’Azur in 1984. Take a close look at the bikes. That’s what mountain biking was like back then.

Entirely rigid, newly imported bikes, and two customised cyclo-cross bikes headed off into the Massif des Maures to tackle a single loop route that crossed over the beach. History repeats itself, times change and trends come and go, but our passion for bikes in all their forms remains intact.

The itinerary that the Gravel riders will follow will favour those using specific equipment.

With alternating road and off-road sections for everyone’s enjoyment, it is particularly designed to benefit the specialists.

One route, 2 options, race or just ride. You've chosen the Gravel Roc Race, welcome to the competition!

No mountain bikes allowed of course!

By now a legendary event that needs no introduction, the Roc d’Azur has seen several generations of mountain bikers come to pit themselves against a single-circuit route that winds around dry, rocky and demanding terrain in the Massif des Maures.

What makes this event so amazing are all the ups and downs, in every sense of the term.

Because to start a race at the “ROC” is quite an experience beginning with the adrenaline of the start line itself.

The Roc d’Azur is also an extremely tough route with amazing landscapes as far as the eye can see, but most of all it’s another chapter in each mountain biker’s personal history.
