  • Discipline: gravel
  • Distance: 60 km – Elevation gains: 880m
  • Category: from Juniors upwards (born in 2000 or earlier)
  • Start and finish at the Base Nature in Fréjus

An ancestral practice or a new concept, the gravel phenomenon has finally crossed the Atlantic bringing with it the thrill of a concept from the US.

Remember how mountain biking arrived on the old continent and the role that Stéphane Hauvette and his Roc d’Azur played at a time when the discipline was developing in Europe. Look at the picture of the start of the first Roc d’Azur in 1984. Take a close look at the bikes. This is what mountain biking looked like back then!

Newly imported, entirely rigid mountain bikes and two DIY cyclocross bikes headed off into the Massif des Maures and completed a 50km loop. History repeats itself, times change and trends come and go, but our passion for bikes in all their forms remains intact.

The itinerary that the Gravel riders will follow will favour those using specific equipment.

With alternating road and off-road sections for everyone’s enjoyment, it is particularly designed to benefit the specialists.

One route, 2 options, race or just ride. You’ve chosen the Gravel Roc Ride, so make the most of your rando race and the beautiful scenery which surrounds you.

No mountain bikes allowed of course!
