Today on the roc d'azur CIC
An anniversary deserves a celebration! Although there were a few showers on the first day of the 2024 edition of the Roc d'Azur CIC, the first races went ahead without issue at the François-Léotard nature base in Fréjus and in the Maures mountains. Initiated by Génération Roc, the day continued with the Roc Rally (34.1 km), serving as the first of five stages of the Delta Plus Roc Trophy. The 300 exhibitors in the village, representing the biggest brands in the market, were also able to prepare to welcome, starting Thursday at 10 a.m., all the visitors to the Village, with all the latest products showcased in each space.
Champions of the day
Winners on Wednesday of the Rallye Roc (34.1 km, 655 m of elevation gain), Adrien Dejeanne and Lucie Cazottes, have taken the lead in the Delta Plus Roc Trophy, a stage challenge with one race a day until Sunday. On Thursday, in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, the participants in this event will start the Delta Plus Roc Trophy #2 (36.5 km, 1215 m of elevation gain), followed on Friday by the Ford Roc Marathon (102.7 km). With just 10.7km between Roquebrune-sur-Argens and the Col de Valdinguarde, Saturday's time-trial stage will be the shortest but it should be very intense, with 450m of elevation gain. The Delta Plus Roc Trophy concludes on Sunday with the legendary Roc d'Azur CIC (55.1km). The competitors will have ridden a total of 239.1 km and covered 6,440 m of ascent.
Stat of the day: 20 000
More than 20,000 participants (91% of whom are cyclists, with 60% on mountain bikes), from 40 nationalities and 74% from outside the PACA region, are expected through Sunday for the various events offered by the Roc d'Azur CIC. With seven disciplines (Mountain Bike Competitions and Rides, Electric, Gravel, Road Cycling, Triathlon, Trail Running, and Hiking), the Roc d'Azur event offers a wide range of activities, allowing everyone to experience the Roc d'Azur CIC, regardless of skill level, age, type of sport, or personal interests. The 39% of participants registered for the first time at the Roc d'Azur CIC highlight the strong appeal of the event, which has become a must-attend for mountain biking enthusiasts, and, in recent years, for trail runners and hikers as well.
Tommorow's Highlights
Forty years after seven pioneers near Ramatuelle initiated the first edition, the participants in the Canyon Gravel 40 Years will set off from the area where the first start was given in 1984, this Thursday at 10 am. On their programme: 70 km of gravel, a fast-growing discipline halfway between mountain biking and road cycling, as far as the Fréjus nature base. Since 2012, the Tri Roc has been on the programme. It will be one of the day's other highlights (starting at 1 pm). More than 300 triathletes will complete a 1,500-metre swim in the Mediterranean, a 25.6 km mountain bike ride in the Maures Massif, and a 9.6 km run at the nature base. The Tri Roc Relais will also allow participants to share the experience with a swimmer, a cyclist, and a runner.
