TODAY AT THE ROC D'AZUR CIC
The Roc d'Azur CIC is first and foremost a great festival for all cycling enthusiasts in all its forms and for lovers of nature sports. On Friday evening, the CIC Roc Ruelles de Fréjus and the CIC Kid Roc Ruelles de Fréjus transferred this spirit to the heart of old Fréjus, at the foot of the Sainte-Léonce cathedral. For two hours, under the gaze of spectators on the terraces, participants performed feats of speed down and up staircases, and around tight bends. On a 1.2 km loop, the 15-minute runs for the semi-finals and 20 minutes for the final, all the pairs (relay races) put on a real show. Saturday was also a great day for hiking, children and families. As in previous years, the Rando Déguisée (Disguised Ride) provided some... surprising scenes. There was plenty of enthusiasm, too, for the Kid Roc, where the show was not only on the course, but also on the trackside, with parents often far more stressed than their children. The party continues this Sunday!
CHAMPIONS OF THE DAY
Roc d'Azur CIC heritage Their names are Noé, Louise, Enio, Esteban, Caterina and Nina. They are today's champions. Perhaps also the champions of tomorrow. This Saturday, on the various Kids Roc events, over distances adapted to their age group, they experienced the first great thrills of competition. The medal they won on the nature base will undoubtedly have a special place in their bedroom. In their memories too. On Friday, Loana Lecomte, winner of the Ford Roc Marathon, was still recalling those moments. The Roc is my childhood memory,” confided the Frenchwoman, now one of the world's best. It's the first big event I ever did. Every year, it's all I've been waiting for. Last summer's Olympic champion, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, also looks back on these memories. “I've been coming to the Roc since I was 8 or 9. When I was little, it was the event of the year for us. I even won in the pupil category. Like them, all the great champions remember the Kids Roc. In a few years' time, we'll see Noé, Louise, Enio, Esteban, Caterina and Nina at the highest level.
On Saturday, Joris Delbove and Belgium's Alana Castrisque won the Canyon Gravel Roc, a 70 km race between the Fréjus nature base and the Domaine de la Bergerie in Roquebrune-sur-Argens. After four of the five stages of the Delta Plus Roc Trophy, Ireland's David Montgomery and Lucie Cazottes are comfortably ahead of the rest of the field. Final act this Sunday, with the Roc d'Azur CIC.
