Roc d'Azur CIC welcomes trail runners and hikers too

July 31, 2026 at 9:52 AM
  • In 2026, Roc d’Azur CIC offers five trail races ranging from 14 to 50 km, on 10 and 11 October, with a challenge suited to every level.
  • Three hiking routes of 6, 11 and 16 km allow participants to discover the surrounding landscapes at their own pace.
  • An outstanding natural setting: the Estérel and Maures massifs, where red rocks, forests and Mediterranean panoramas create a unique playground.

While cycling in all its forms remains at the heart of Roc d’Azur CIC, the event continues to evolve and reaffirms its ambition to bring together all outdoor sports enthusiasts. Roc d’Azur CIC is no longer experienced solely on two wheels. Since 2022, it has also been enjoyed on foot, combining performance, discovery and freedom in a protected natural environment. In 2026, trail runners and hikers are invited to experience the iconic landscapes of Fréjus, Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Saint-Raphaël and the Estérel Côte d’Azur Agglomération through five trail races and three hiking routes across two exceptional Mediterranean mountain ranges.

Two mountain ranges, two atmospheres, one shared spirit of adventure

On Saturday, 10 October, trail runners will set off from Saint-Raphaël towards the Estérel massif. With its striking red rocks plunging into the Mediterranean, it provides a spectacular setting for two challenges: the 51 km Roc Trail Estérel (1,365 m of elevation gain), offering a full immersion in the Estérel, and the 29.9 km Roc Trail Estérel (801 m of elevation gain), combining the joy of running with the challenge of pushing one's limits.

On Sunday, 11 October, attention shifts to the Maures massif, starting from Roquebrune-sur-Argens. Three distances cater to every level: 14.6 km (400 m of elevation gain) for newcomers to trail running, 24.8 km (780 m of elevation gain) for those seeking more technical terrain, and 42.1 km (1,270 m of elevation gain) for experienced runners looking for a true trail marathon.

Two days, two unique landscapes, but one shared promise: exceptional trails and the opportunity to race through the Estérel on Saturday before continuing the adventure in the Maures on Sunday.

Trail running: a new way to experience Roc d’Azur CIC

Trail running continues to attract an ever-growing community of participants, drawn by a different way of experiencing sport: exploring new territories, immersing themselves in nature and sharing a collective adventure. This philosophy perfectly matches the spirit of Roc d’Azur CIC. Over the years, the event has expanded its programme to become a genuine outdoor sports festival, bringing together several disciplines around the same passion. Many mountain bikers are also trail runners, united by the same desire for discovery and adventure.

Hiking: discover nature at your own pace

Roc d’Azur CIC 2026 also welcomes those who simply want to take the time to enjoy the scenery. Three hiking routes of 6.7 km (170 m elevation gain), 11.6 km (260 m) and 16.1 km (470 m), all taking place on Sunday, 11 October, will allow participants to explore the trails of the Maures massif in a friendly atmosphere, whether with family or friends. It is also a great opportunity for accompanying friends and relatives to pin on a race bib themselves and become part of the Roc d’Azur CIC community.

Registrations for the trail races and hiking routes are now open on the official website: rocazur.com

Preserving an exceptional playground

Roc d’Azur CIC takes place in the heart of the Maures and Estérel massifs, two remarkable natural areas whose preservation is a key priority for the event. Working alongside local organisations and partners—including the French National Forestry Office (ONF), the Conservatoire du Littoral, the Association Roque d’Azur and Clean My Nature—the event contributes throughout the year to protecting these exceptional environments.

Beyond the event itself, Roc d’Azur CIC helps maintain the mountain ranges by supporting the restoration of trails that improve access for emergency services and by contributing to the upkeep of sensitive natural areas. In partnership with Clean My Nature and with the support of title partner CIC, waste collection systems are deployed along the courses, while a Clean Walk is organised ahead of the event to raise public awareness about protecting these unique natural spaces.
